Has to be one of the silliest quotes in the world. Logically, it just doesn’t make any sense. If there did happen to be a draft in the future, anyone who has served would be exempt. So technically since they’re serving now they wouldn’t have to while other people were being forced to. Either way, there isn’t a draft. Your SO serves because he/she went to a recruiting office and signed a contract. It is an enormously self-sacrificing occupation, don’t get me wrong! I just always think of drafts when I read that quote and it seems like they don’t really understand what a draft even is.
