So apparently there was an unexploded World War II-era bomb found on base the other day. That explains a lot. Luckily it was detonated, but seriously though, WWII, that bomb was living comfy there.

The ceremony, which took place across from the Kauffman EOD Training Complex, Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD), honored explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technicians who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country in performance of EOD missions. NAVSCOLEOD, located on Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., provides high-risk, specialized, basic and advanced EOD training to over 2,100 U.S. and partner nation military and selected U.S. government personnel each year. U.S. Army Major Robert Eldridge, 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group executive officer, prepares before mounting a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, May 7. Eldridge was injured while on a combat patrol in Shkin, Patika province, Afghanistan, Dec 17, 2004. He was in the lead vehicle when it was struck by an anti-tank mine.
